i already have way problems with understanding context so it's been heaps of joy for me lately.

the translating of the lingo thus far goes as so:
the pharmacy is the chemist,
the liquor store is the bottle shop - (or the bottle-oh),
fish sticks are fish fingers,
breaded something is crumbed something -(ie. crumbed fish fingers),
dim sum is yum cha,
'LOTS' is 'HEAPS',
take out is take away,
ground beef is minced meat,
'thanks' is 'ta',
'how are you doing' is 'how'r'ya goin'?,
and the shortened 'goin' isn't 'go-win' like in north america, it's 'go-ween'.
bus passes are bus tickets -
and this does make a difference because hey,
ESLs (English as a Second Languagers) understand you even LESS
than the Australians!

Pronounciation!
'a' is 'i' - for example: "it's been 'eye-jez' (ages) since you've called!"
'i' is 'oy' - for instance: "what a 'noice' day!"
if the last letter of the word is an 'a' - some people (retards) like to say it with an 'er' instead. - for freakin' example:
"youse ahh from Canader? I reckon' is noice up theh!"

i can now do this awesome impression - head nodding up and down AND eyebrow raising - of someone who understands what is being said to them.
