mybestkungfu's Diaryland Diary

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

happy St. Paddy's day: i'll give you something to cry about!

Miguel left for phuket early this morning.
i forgot to bring cookies and
chocolate home last night so he is
going to starve and won't have
anything to barter with.

went to work (one hour on the bus),
checked my email and went online
for 2 hours and got out early.
my contract with CCH is done!
i call an agency to set up an
appointment the following Monday.
and Michael to see if he wants to
meet up for lunch.

walked to Macquarie Center to up
my plane tickets and some cookies -
which i am going to eat for Miguel.
hopped on a bus (20 minutes) to
Michael for lunch in Chatswood.
we feast on Chicken Schnitzel and
mash. but i wanted chips.
but M forgot that i hate mash.

I decide to take a ferry from
Milson's Point to Balmain East
wharf to go home (instead
of taking the train and bus) -
which would bypass all of stupid
downtown and smelly George St.
It's raining but i think this is
what 'winter rain' is like because
instead of the usual downpour -
it's this heavy spray. I hop off
the train at Milson's. i believe
this area is called 'Kirribilli'.

the harbour bridge which usually
looms ahead disappears like
a black snake into the fog.
i can barely make out the Opera
House across the harbour.
i wish i had brought my camera...
there are small shops, narrow
roads and cafes. It's a small
version of Balmain. it's a shame
that we've only found these
places now 'cause i've been slowly
getting frustrated with Sydney
due to sup-bar pubs and stupid
crowds. apparantly i just hated
the CBD (central business district).
and George St. where the most of
the unwashed tourists and rednecks
wander. George is a kick in the face.

i make it home and half work on the
logo i'm supposed to be working on
for Rick's band.
(i HAVE to get this done this week!).

Work calls and they would like
to extend my contract.
i have to go in tomorrow :(

Michael comes home and we decide
to hit a pub in the Balmain area.
We get there to a line-up. it's
huge (and packed) inside -
reminiscent of the Rose and Crown
back in Calgary. but it's so
bloody crowded! and i'm so bloody
cranky!

it's a pretty nice bar but i am
in no mood to party it up.
i can barely muster up
the enthusiasm to join in Michael's
commentary regarding the mastadon
standing in the patio right
outside our window.

she's not that huge and attractive
i think. she's just Australian.

we have a drink each and head home.
and then i cry.

p.s. i updated my pix.
