on the Civilization diet
i'm playing this stupid computer game that makes time disappear.
i forget to eat. i don't get sleepy.
i start it when i come back from the bar and next thing you know it's 5:30 am.
best diet ever.
------ this city has total style.
we went exploring the other day and walked through the back of a shopping arcade. instead of a loading dock, there was this cramped grafittied alleyway. but instead of rubbish bins, hobos, and prostitutes there were over a dozen small cafes, restaurants, and prostitutes lining both sides.
each cafe probably sat 10 people maximum. there moms sipping giant coffees with tiny gourmet sandwiches, suits tucking into giant vietnamese soup bowls, me going 'how did they fit all this stuff in here?!'.
Generally the speciality shops are close together so say you're looking for cameras, they're all on a corner, and designer clothes (seperate one for the older crowd - Chanel and Aramani etc. - and one for the younger - Miss Sixty etc.)
we bought a deck of cards that depicted a good bar/club to check out.
52 of them and that's JUST DOWNTOWN.
we hit one on Brunswick street last week. Apparantly the drinking establishements are more bohemian.
Chameleon bar had 3 dollar pints and wine. the bathrooms are in the back. you go out a door, down a hallway, another door - and ta da! - you're in the alley. and a few more steps is what looks like an outhouse but thankfully has indoor plumbing. i'm running out of computer time - but
i'd like to warn everybody that i'm trying to fix my plane ticket to come home early. i am having problems with school loan stuff and i'd like to get it out of the way ASAP. we may have to rush job our scuba diving in the Great Barrier reef trip. i may be home within two weeks. we're going to see if we can get it all organised this afternoon. so yeah!
